Wer hätte gedacht, dass der Schwede Dan Swanö sich doch noch mal in sein Studio begibt und einen Nachfolger zum 96er Album "Crimson" einspielt ?!  Nachdem er bei etlichen eigenen und fremden Projekten (BLOODBATH, NIGHTINGALE, STAR ONE u.a. ) mitgewirkt hatte, war es auch wirklich an der Zeit, die alte Legende EDGE OF SANITY wieder auferstehen zu lassen. Noch schnell ein paar illustre Gäste mit ins Studio gezerrt und fertig ist eine der geilsten Death Metal Scheiben der letzten Monate. Mit den Lead Gitarristen Mike Wead (HEXENHAUS, MEMENTO MORI, MERCYFUL FATE) und Simon Johansson (MEMORY GARDEN) hat er sich zwei absolute Könner an Land gezogen. Die Death Metal Growls teilt er sich mit Roger Johansson (INSISION). Die komplette Scheibe besteht aus einem einzigen Song, welcher in 14 Parts unterteilt wurde. Ganz getreu dem 1996er Album, welches ebenfalls aus nur einem 40 Minütigen Song bestand. Das musikalische Spektrum reicht wie immer von sehr ruhigen Passagen über wundervolle Gesangslinien bis zum groovenden Death Metal Geballere. Die Klampfen braten wie die Hölle und im nächsten Moment ist schlagartig wieder Gefühl angesagt. Dieses Album ist im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes ein Wechselbad der Gefühle. Trotz dieser Vielfalt findet man immer wieder den roten Faden des eigentlichen Songs, so dass am Ende tatsächlich der Eindruck entsteht, man hätte einen einzigen (wahnsinnig langen) Song gehört. Nach 46 Minuten wahrlich ein Kunststück !

Unbelievable, but finally Dan Swanö has managed to get into a studio to record a follow-up to the 1996 album „Crimson“.Indeed, it has become high time for the resurrection of the legendary EDGE OF SANITY after so many projects this Swedish guy has joined throughout the last six years (BLOODBATH, NIGHTINGALE, STAR ONE and others). He just dragged some famous guests into the studio and completed one of the best Death Metal albums of the past few months.Lead guitarists Mike Wead (HEXENHAUS, MEMENTO MORI, MERCYFUL FATE) and Simon Johansson (MEMORY GARDEN) know their jobs very well and were the best possible choice to make I guess. The Death Metal growls are shared with Roger Johansson (INSISION). The whole album consists of one song divided into 14 parts.Just like „Crimson“ which also consisted of only one song with 40 min. playing time. The musical spectrum ranges shows a wide range from very calm parts over marvellous vocallines to groovy Death Metal fury. The guitars shred as hell but turn into very emotional parts unexpectedly.This album is a real emotional roller-coaster.Despite this musical variety you never lose the leitmotif of the original song so therefore you get the impression to have listened to only one (extremely long) song. A real masterly performance after 46 min., indeed !
