Superb.............ein Debüt, das das Gütesiegel "Heavy Metal" zurecht trägt.
"Ashes To Ashes" bietet wahre Hymnen des Metals in einem Sound, der nicht hätte
besser sein können und einem die Lauscher so richtig durchpustet. Die Leute von den so genannten führenden Fanzines (z.B. Rock Hard usw. ) sollten
sich diese Scheibe noch mal genau und in Ruhe anhören und ihre Kritiken
überdenken. Nicht jeder der bei MANOWAR ist (oder war) verzapft solche schlechten
Sachen wie MANOWAR seit Jahren (wirklich letzte gute Platte von MANOWAR war
"Triumph Of Steel" mit eben jenem David Shankle !!!).
Aber zurück zu "Ashes To Ashes": Diese Scheibe bietet alles, was ein wahres
Metallerherz am schlagen hält. Geile Gitarrenläufe, stampfende Rhythmen und
einen absolut geilen Shouter. Erstklassige Songs wie z.B. "Calling All Heros"
oder das mystische "Curse Of The Pharaohs" sowie der Titelsong "Ashes To Ashes"
setzen sich sofort im Gehörgang fest. Vor allem ist es ein Album, das nicht durch
durchgedrehte Gitarrensolos zerstückelt wird. Sondern David ist absolut in der
Lage jeden Song nach vorne zu powern mit seiner Klampfe und dabei total
songdienlich zu spielen. Bei einem Gitarrenlehrer ist man ja sonst was Anderes
gewohnt.
Fazit: Für Holger & Mich ist "Ashes To Ashes" von DSG ein absolut geiles
Heavy Metal Album, das in jede gute Sammlung gehört !!! KAUFPFLICHT !!!

Superb...a debut album that really deserves the
hallmark „Heavy Metal“ !! „Ashes To Ashes“ delivers a load of Metal hymns in a
top sound quality blasting your ears. The guys of the so-called „leading
fanzines“ (Rock Hard etc.) should listen to this album carefully again and think
about their reviews afterwards. Not everyone who once joined MANOWAR delivers
such bullshit now as MANOWAR themselves since years (their last really good
album was „Triumph Of Steel“ with .... DAVID SHANKLE, right !!). Now back to „Ashes
To Ashes“. This masterpiece provides everything keeping a true Metal Heart
beating. Great guitar licks, stomping rhythm-section and a simply great shouter.
Brilliant songs such as „Calling All Heroes“ or the mystical „Curse Of The
Pharaohs“ as well as the title track „Ashes To Ashes“ catch your ears
immediately. And what matters most ,this album does not get torn to pieces by
some weird guitar solos. David is able to push every song straight ahead with
his song-helpful playing. That’s worth mentioning because unfortunately we got
used to something else as far as guitar teachers are concerned...
Finally, Holger and me consider „Ashes To Ashes“ to be a great Heavy Metal album
that ought to be added to every serious collection !! BUY OR DIE !!
