Und wieder mal hat ein griechisches Label einen Volltreffer gelandet. Endlich ist das gesuchte Demo Tape "Ra Pariah" der US Metal Band APOLLO RA aus dem Jahr 1989 zu CD Ehren gekommen. Vom Sound darf man natürlich keine Wunder erwarten und auch kleinere Fehler (man hat ein original Demo verwendet, mit Masterbändern war nix !) haben sich eingeschlichen, welche dem Hörgenuss aber nicht schaden. Dafür wurde diese CD aber mit 2 Bonus Tracks versehen, deren Herkunft mir bis jetzt verborgen blieb. Der Qualität der Aufnahmen kann ich nur entnehmen, dass es sich offensichtlich um älteres Material handelt. Zur Musik braucht man sicher auch nicht viel zu sagen, Kenner der Materie (hallo Ronald !) wissen eh schon bescheid. Man stelle sich eine Mischung aus LEATHERWOLF und frühen CRIMSON GLORY vor, um sich in etwa ein Bild machen zu können. Auffallend sind die teilweise extrem hohen Vocals, die einer Power Metal Band aber noch nie geschadet haben. Schade nur, dass es nie zu einer offiziellen Veröffentlichung auf einem Major Label kam. Dann könnte man heute die Songs vielleicht auch in einem ihrer Klasse angemessenem Sound genießen. Trotzdem gilt für diese tolle CD im Pappschuber: Griechenland 10 Points !

Once again a direct hit by a Greek label ! Finally, the highly sought after demo tape „Ra Pariah“ of the US Metal band APOLLO RA originally released in 1989 is available on CD. Concerning the sound you mustn’t expect marvels since the recordings were taken from an original demo tape(no master tapes available)but despite a few little mistakes you can enjoy this CD without limitation. Moreover, two bonus tracks (of unknown origin, I have to confess) have been included According to the sound quality it obviously seems to be older stuff. I am sure everyone of you knows what to expect here musically (hi, Ron !) so I do not need to waiste many words on this topic. Just imagine a mixture of LEATHERWOLF and early CRIMSON GLORY and you’ll get the right picture. The partly very high-pitched vocals are remarkable but this hasn’t done any harm to a Power Metal band yet, did it? What a pity that the band never managed to get a deal with a major label that could have released this material in adequate sound quality. Nevertheless, the final score for this great CD (comes in a cardboard box) is: Greece 10 points !!
