"Back To Times Of Splendor"

Nach der selbst produzierten "Three Neuron Kings" EP und der "The Porter" Single legen DISILLUSION endlich ihr erstes Album vor. Wenn eine Death-Metal Band das Prädikat "progressiv" verdient, dann sind das DISILLUSION. Wer bei dieser Scheibe erst einmal den roten Faden gefunden hat, wird auf eine Reise gehen die er so schnell nicht vergessen wird. Dieses Album geniest man am besten im Dämmerschein einer Kerze bei einem Gläschen Rotwein. "Back To Times Of Splendor" muss man als ein großes Ganzes betrachten, aus dem sich einzelne Songs schlecht herauslösen lassen, auch wenn Titel wie "Alone I Stand In Fire" auch für sich allein genommen restlos überzeugen. Der Titelsong "Back To Times Of Splendor" mit seinen fast 15 Minuten Spielzeit stellt für mich den Höhepunkt dieses Meisterwerks dar. Allein aus diesem Song hätten andere Bands dieses Genres ein ganzes Album gemacht. Die gesamte Scheibe ist durchzogen von (sinnvollen) Breaks und wahnwitzigen Tempowechseln, dargeboten mit einer unglaublichen technischen Perfektion. Wer DISILLUSION schon einmal live erleben durfte, wird wissen was ich meine. Der Gesang wechselt ständig von einer cleanen, fast schon weinerlich klingenden Stimme zu hervorragend intonierten Death-Crowls. Abgeschlossen wird das Album von dem genialen 17 Minuten Song "The Sleep Of Restless Hours", in welchem die Band ihre Stärken noch einmal bündelt und so ziemlich alles und jeden an die Wand spielt. Wer auf Bands wie OPETH, KATATONIA oder frühe ANATHEMA steht, kommt an dieser Band nicht vorbei. Auch Freunde der letzten beiden EMPEROR Alben dürften an dieser CD ihren Gefallen finden. Die CD kommt übrigens am 05. April als sehr aufwendig gestaltetes Digi-Pack (das Booklet ist mehrfach aufklappbar) und sieht sehr geil aus !!!

Heute muss Ich mal meinen Senf dazu geben. Als erstes muss Ich DISILLUSION zu dieser wahnsinnig guten und geilen CD gratulieren. Was die Jungs auf ihrem Metal-Blade-Debüt zelebrieren ist der absolute Hammer. Die Scheibe kann Mann/Frau noch so oft hören, man entdeckt immer wieder neues. Ja und die Aufmachung schlägt ja wohl alles was in der letzten Zeit erschienen ist!!! Das Digi-Pack mit 16 seitigem Breitbild und Cinemascope-Booklet ist schier überwältigend. Holt Euch das Teil.......hier stimmt einfach alles und seid gewiss: DISILLUSION werden groß......sehr groß !  (Holger und Ich haben es schon immer gewusst)

After the self-produced „Three Neuron Kings“-EP and the „The Porter“-7“ DISILLUSION finally release their first album. If there is a Death Metal Band on earth that deserves the title „progressive“ it definitely has to be DISILLUSION. Once you have found the leitmotif of this CD you will be taken on a journey you will hardly forget. The best way to enjoy this CD is drinking a glass of red wine by the dim light of a candle. You have to take the album as a whole for it is difficult to separate single songs from the whole context. Nevertheless, tracks as „Alone I Stand In Fire“ are totally convincing as single songs as well. To my mind the title track with its almost 15 min. playing time marks the outstanding highlight of this masterpiece. Other bands of this genre would have made a whole album of the numerous parts of this single song ,I bet. There are a lot of (sensible) breaks and insane tempo changes throughout the whole album, performed with an unbelievable technical perfection. Those of you who already had the opportunity to watch a live concert of the band surely know what I am talking about. The vocals steadily change from a clean ,almost weepy voice to great-performed Death-growls. The album is closed by the brilliant „The Sleep Of Restless Hours“ with 17 min. playing time. Here the band once more focuses on their great ability and skill blasting away everything. If you are into bands like OPETH,KATATONIA or early ANATHEMA this CD is a MUST. Even if you like the last two EMPEROR outputs you possibly will like it. By the way, this CD will be released on April 5th in a lavishly styled Digi-Pack (the booklet is hinged several times) and looks fucking great !! Homepage: www.disillusion.de

Today I have to put my oar in here. First of all congratulations to DISILLUSION for this great CD. It doesn’t matter how often you listen to this album it never gets boring. And the presentation of the CD is by far the best I have seen for a long time !! The Digi-Pack with broad picture and cinemascope-booklet is simply overwhelming!
