Eine sehr positive Überraschung stellt das mittlerweile sechste Album der “Donnermuschis“ dar, ein sehr cooles Viking-Warrior-Cover lässt schon einiges erhoffen, was dann auch im vollsten Umfang erfüllt wird. Mit „The Cleansing“ grollt und donnert schon bedrohlich das Schlagzeug los, bevor Gitarrenass Ryan Lake messerscharfe Riffs abfeuert, was da an die Ohren dringt klingt gar nicht mehr nach rohem Stonerrock, sondern eindeutig nach Heavy Metal ! Mit Kyle Thomas (ex-EXHORDER, ex-FLOODGATE und derzeit aktuell noch bei PITTS vs. PREPS) gibt es wieder mal einen neuen Frontmann zu verzeichnen, der passt allerdings auch klasse zur neuen metallischen Ausrichtung der Band, hat dieser doch schon durch seine Vergangenheit metallisches Blut durch seine Adern fließen. Am ehesten lässt sich der jetzige Sound der Truppe als rauhen, ungeschliffenen Rock Metal bezeichnen, der kräftig grooved und Arsch tritt. Anspieltipps auf dem durchweg gutem Album sind „The Cleansing“, „None Shall Return“, „Whiskey War“ und auch das Titelstück „Open Fire“. Gute Möglichkeiten gibt es ja heutzutage genug, um vorher einen guten Eindruck zu gewinnen.

This meanwhile sixth output of the Thunderpussies turns out to be a very positive surprise.The cool and viking cover keeps everything it promises. It begins with thundering drums in "The Cleansing" before guitarist Ryan Lake fires off his razor sharp riffs.What hits my ears doesn't sound like Stoner Rock any longer,it's definitely Heavy Metal!
The new frontman Kyle Thomas (former Exhorder, Floodgate and actually engaged with Pitts vs. Preps) fits the new more metallic direction of the band perfectly for Metal already runs through his veins due to his former engagements.The best way to describe the new sound of the band is raw and uncut Rock Metal that heavily grooves and kicks ass.
All in all a really good album.Check out especially "The Cleansing", "None Shall Return", "Whiskey War" and the title track.Nowadays,there are many opportunities to get a thorough impression.
