Seit dem ersten Album "Battlecry Under A Winter Sun" aus dem Jahr 2002 ist bei den Kanadiern allerhand passiert. Damals konnten sie mich mit ihrem traditionellem Metal mit Vocals in Halford'schen Höhen (plus dezentem Death-Metal Gekreische ala CHILDREN OF BODOM) begeistern. Große Worte haben aber weder ich noch die einschlägigen Gazetten über diese Band verloren. Das wird sich mit der ganz hervorragenden neuen Veröffentlichung garantiert ändern ! In Japan schon letztes Jahr erschienen, erreicht uns die Orcs-schlachtende Meute nun endlich auch in Europa. Auffallend gegenüber dem Debüt und der ersten EP (eigentlich nur ein Demo aus dem Jahre 2001) ist der noch mehr verstärkte Einsatz von Death-Metal Backing Vocals. Musikalisch bleibt alles beim alten: eine rasante  Mischung aus JUDAS PRIEST, IRON MAIDEN und anderen einschlägigen 80er Jahre Bands. Am hohen und schon fast kreischenden Gesang werden sich wieder mal die Geister scheiden. Gut so, denn diese Band ist wohl eher etwas für Freunde obskurer Bands wie THE LORD WEIRD SLAUGH FEG (ohne diese als direkten Vergleich heranzuziehen). Produziert hat das Teil kein geringerer als Neil Kernon (produzierte u.a. für QUEENSRYCHE und DOKKEN) und für den Mix ist Colin Richardson ( u.a. MACHINE HEAD, CARCASS) verantworlich.

Since their first album "Battlecry Under A Winter Sun" released in 2002 this Canadian band went through many changes. Back then I liked their traditional Metal with Halfordish vocals (plus some gentle Death Metal shrieks like CHILDREN OF BODOM) very much but they weren't featured in any Fanzine or one of the well-known magazines at all. This will definitely change due to their brilliant new output. Released in Japan last year already, this Orc-slaughtering horde finally reaches Europe. There's a remarkable stronger emphasis on Death Metal backing vocals compared to their first album and their first EP  (originally just a demo recorded in 2001). Musically, nothing's changed at all: an explosive mixture of JUDAS PRIEST, IRON MAIDEN and other 80's bands. Yet the shrill, almost shrieking vocals are a love/hate thing. That's okay with me for this band is for those of you being into more obscure acts like The Lord Weird Slough Feg (being no direct comparison though). Neil Kernon (QUEENSRYCHE, DOKKEN) has produced this album mixed by Colin Richardson (MACHINE HEAD and CARCASS among others).
